You can read more about the SSD and performance of it using the adapter on macrumors forums For anyone interested in the adapter, here is what I have: "NGFF M.2 PCIe SSD Card as 2013 2014 2015 MacBook SSD" This drive uses the M.2 2280 form factor which isn't compatible with the macbook pro normally, however after some research I found there to be a compatible adapter that allows you to use this drive in a MBP without any performance loss.

I decided to upgrade mine to a 500Gb WD Black NVME drive (WDS500G2X0C). The hard drive it comes with is a SSD 512Gb which is great. It's a Dual core i7 processor with a speed of 3.1 Ghz. The macbook I have has 16Gb of memory at a speed of 1866 MHz which is more than enough to handle any task I throw at it.
